So where do we start?
Once you have passed through the portal you join the game as a Level 1 character in the cabin of a ship that has just arrived in Troyka, the main village on The Gilar Coast. The ‘cabin boy’ will want to talk to you, let him because he will have ‘gifts’ that make life easier for your character in Gilar?
Gifts? That sounds good.
Don’t get too excited, it will just be a few gold pieces and some Life Stones, but it will help your character survive.
Life Stones? What are they?
[Evil Grin] You need to go read the FAQs on Death for that.
OK. I start at level 1. How do I progress?
Go see Mert Brewerson at the Inn. He is a gossip he should know who has work available. Initially, he will send you to see Adele, Hebril Tanner and Nelly Baker. As more ‘job’ quests are added he will know about them.
Job quests?
We intend to have three different types of ‘Quest’. Story quests add to your character history and story - they are quests that you can only do once in a life time. Tasks are quests that you can do more often, once per character level, such as slaying the leader of a pack of bandits. Over the time it takes you to gain a level, the bandits have elected/promoted/found a new leader, so you can kill him again. Jobs are the ‘quests’ that you can do most frequently, normally once per server reset. They represent the day to day tasks of the community, there will be tasks for miners, hunters, collectors, crafters – many professions will be catered for.
OK, tell me more about low level progress?
The Crypt and Spider Woods are probably the safest areas for low level characters. Stay away from the boss encounters of the beetle mine and the Old Wizards Tower until you are at least level three.
What about Healing?
Do Hebril’s quest to get a sewing kit, and then collect garlic and aloe, buy cotton from the farm and you can make healing kits. Not only will they heal damage, but they are good for poisons and diseases as well.
